Day 10

Day 10... we're in the double digits! Heck yes.

There isn't much to write about. Except school starts in a little over a week, and I'm just hoping my swelling goes down even more, and that I can get better control over my drooling. That is all.

Another smiling one! I can already tell my smile is going to be less gummy, which is a good thing!

EDIT: Okay, I published this post about two and a half hours ago and realized I have more to report, so now I'm editing it. Here goes...
I can use adult spoons now! No more baby sized bites, kind of. If I open my mouth too wide it sometimes feels like it hurts the incision sites at the back of my mouth, so I think I'm going to stick with baby spoons for a while, but eventually I'll wean off them. Or maybe not. Maybe I'll eat with them for the rest of my life! They're pretty exciting. They change color with heat! Adult spoons don't do that!
I can't remember if I mentioned this before, but I can open my mouth about two fingers! I am very pleased and impressed with myself! Go me!
So far, I've lost about 9 pounds and I don't think I'm going to lose anymore, so that's a thing. I'm hoping I don't gain any back, because to be honest, I had 9 pounds to spare.
WATERPIK. My love. Dear braces sufferers of the world, do yourself a favor and go buy a waterpik. Just don't shoot them up in your incisions after surgery, cause that hurts. But seriously, so helpful for cleaning my mouth, because it can clean some of the gunk out of my splint that a toothbrush can't!
I'm getting my haircut this coming Tuesday... and it's going to pretty dramatic. We're goin' for something like this:
Carey Mulligan style.
I've been wanting to chop off my hair for over a year, but my mom wanted me to wait til after jaw surgery. She said all movie stars get plastic surgery, and then get a dramatic haircut so no one notices their plastic surgery, so that's what I should do, and that's what I'm doing. Mostly, I'm worried people won't recognize me, and it'll get awkward. But my hair needs to go, and I'll get over people mistaking me for a stranger!
This coming Wednesday marks two weeks, which means I have the ok to go ahead and start going to cross country practice again. I'm scared to be honest. Not really of my face clanking around, but I won't have been for about 4 weeks and I'm going to be slower than everyone else, and my lack of energy won't help, and it will be difficult to socialize with people with this honkin' splint in my mouth and numb lips! I really just need to buckle down and go. Things need to go back to normal, and this is part of normal.
